El Pony Pisador “Mariners d’Aigua Dolça”

El Pony Pisador returns with “Mariners d’Aigua Dolça”, a new maxi-single that invites listeners to go with the flow.

With two songs that breathe the river culture of the Pyrenees, the group transforms the figure of the ancient rafters into a metaphor for life and movement. Faithful to their free spirit, humor, and virtuosity, El Pony Pisador once again showcase their ability to turn tradition into a vibrant and emotionally charged experience.

L’havanera del Raier
The main piece, L’havanera del Raier, was composed during the lockdown. This “river habanera” embraces a more emotional and introspective expression within El Pony Pisador’s universe. The song features collaborations with Les Anxovetes, with whom they exchange mutually written verses, and Laia Glück (Trèvol) on the gralla, along with an arrangement by Arnau Tordera (Obeses) that brings an unusual sound to the genre. Produced by the band itself, mixed by Mario Patiño (Atlàntida Estudi), and mastered by Ferran Conangla, the track stands out for its acoustic warmth and the use of an acoustic guitar instead of a classical one, giving it a more human and earthy breath.

Cançó del Raier
Initially conceived as a visual complement to the habanera, this version of Jacint Verdaguer’s musicalized poem was born during the filming of the videoclip with the Rafters of la Pobla de Segur, who invited the group to reinterpret their anthem. El Pony Pisador combines the traditional arrangement provided by Marta, director of les Caramelles de la Pobla, with the Zelda melody by French accordionist Philippe Plard, creating a fusion between the sardana and European folk dance. The videoclip, directed by Manu de Salvador (Taupa Coop.), was filmed during the Diada dels Raiers on the Noguera River, featuring the band’s characteristic “Celtic” sound.

Mariners d’Aigua Dolça marks a new chapter for El Pony Pisador, where musical exploration and a deep connection with popular culture come together in an honest and vibrant project. A release that invites listeners to rediscover tradition through a free-spirited, curious, and deeply human perspective.
