El Pony Pisador released their new work, “L’Espantaocells”. This ballad, the second preview of their upcoming album, delves into the sound of medieval fantasy music while incorporating new instruments.
In “L’Espantaocells,” El Pony Pisador aims for a sound that perfectly captures the essence of medieval fantasy melodies. Introducing instruments like the classical guitar and hurdy-gurdy, they weave in narrative elements from traditional Catalan songs such as “La Presó de Lleida” and “La Filadora”. Computationally, they apply unique musical structures to the verses, omitting a conventional chorus, repeating phrases at the end, creating a captivating composition. They describe it as “we were seeking a sound midway between the songs of Esquirols (a prominent Catalan folk group from the ’80s) and the acoustic songs of the German group Blind Guardian”.
Appealing to audiences of all ages, “L’Espantaocells” weaves a story of friendship and admiration for the landscape and nature. This narrative is visually depicted in the music video, combining medieval imagery with the distinctive style of “Una Mà de Contes,” a TV3 program that has been captivating young audiences for 22 years.
That’s why it’s worth highlighting that the music video has been entirely crafted by El Pony Pisador with an artisanal production. Design and production are handled by Miquel Pérez and Laura García; while color and layout are overseen by Miquel Selga and Montserrat Ruiz.
With “L’Espantaocells,” the band continues to solidify its presence in the music scene, demonstrating versatility and the ability to explore new sonic territories with each release. This second preview marks the beginning of a captivating musical journey, leading to the release of their new album “OCELLS” on February 2.
