El Pony Pisador, with a unique fusion of Celtic and roots music, they release “La Guerra de L’Emú,” the latest preview of their highly anticipated upcoming album OCELLS (Guspira Records 2023), set to be released on February 2.
“La Guerra de L’Emú” is a fantastic and fun song inspired by a real historical event: the battle in which the Australian government faced a “plague” of emus, the ostrich-like bird native to Australia, invading Australian crops after World War I. This episode led to the first defeat of the Australian army in armed conflict, a fascinating story that has inspired El Pony Pisador in the song’s narrative.
Musically, El Pony Pisador blends the Celtic punk style of Dropkick Murphys with the revolutionary epic reminiscent of Ebri Knight or Obrint Pas. This mix of styles is combined with elements of military march, bagpipes, and drum, creating a unique sonic experience that pays homage to the Scottish tradition. The Barcelona-based band also incorporates modulations and a distinctive composition style inspired by the sound of banjo players like Gerry O’Connor.
For the music video of this piece, El Pony Pisador has chosen to collaborate with the young talents of the Confraria del Mithril, three members aged between 10 and 12. Their collaboration began with a Minecraft video covering another song by the band, and the success of this initiative has led them to become an integral part of the new album release.
El Pony Pisador keeps their tradition alive by merging history, music, and unique collaborations with the release of “La Guerra de L’Emú,” now available on all digital platforms and also on YouTube. The song is part of their upcoming album OCELLS, available from February 2.
