Meli Perea presents “Entre Caminos”

For those unfamiliar with Meli Perea, she is an artist of Afro-Colombian roots who has been based in Catalonia, specifically in Terres de l’Ebre, for years. A sonic explorer, storyteller, and passionate advocate of musical fusion, Meli Perea made her debut with “Prisma” (Guspira Records, 2023), a work that already hinted at her unique artistic identity.

Now, she presents “Entre Caminos”, a sonic map of encounters, searches, and connections transformed into songs. Through the four tracks that make up this EP, the artist invites us on a journey of sounds that reflect the power of collaboration and the fusion of genres.

The EP opens with “Vengo a Verte”, a vibrant Caribbean fusion that explores the power of genuine connections—a collaboration with Marina y su Melao that leaves no one indifferent. Next, “Me Llama la Tierra” immerses us in deep-rooted traditions, reinforcing that unbreakable bond with one’s homeland that remains in those who have had to leave their home. This piece combines Afro-Colombian sounds with an enveloping electronic production, a distinctive hallmark of Ancestral Beats.

In “Esta Pa’ Mí”, the journey takes a more Afro-centric turn, with touches of amapiano and champeta-style guitars. This empowering track embraces the acceptance of each stage of life with pride and determination, co-produced with Ali Aitken and Charlie Triana. Finally, “Búsqueda” transports us into deep introspection—an internal dialogue in times of uncertainty. Its instrumentation reinforces the feeling of emotional transition, which, far from being static, pushes us forward.

With “Entre Caminos”, Meli Perea proves that art is born from encounters and that each path traveled holds infinite sonic possibilities waiting to be discovered.
